About the Trio
50 languages, over 9 centuries of music, and 50 candles!
Their Story
The story begins in January 2017, Paris, France. Manon has ten days to put together a concert program and urgently contacts two other singers with the sole instruction: “Bring sheet music, cakes, and tea!”
For Pauline, it will be early music; for Elodie, world music; and for Manon, jazz and French chanson… The deadline is too short to try and bring coherence to the program, and anyway, “It’s just for one concert.”
But it was too late, Les Itinérantes were born: an a cappella trio whose repertoire currently covers 11 musical styles, 9 centuries, all in over 50 different languages. Years later, they still draw their inspiration from all directions, and this has even become the trio’s spearhead! Through original compositions and arrangements, the three singers are committed to developing
WOMEN, NATURE, TRAVEL & IMAGINATION
They perform at several festivals (Les Folies Vocales d’Agen, the Ambronay Festival, Via Aeterna, Le Rivage des Voix, the Rencontres Musicales de Vézelay, La Folle journée…) and recorded their first album « Au Fil de l’Air » in 2019. Their encounter with French soprano Natalie Dessay led them to share the stage with her at the Opéra de Bordeaux (as part of the « Momentum, our future now » initiative created by Barbara Hannigan), then in the Grand Hall of UNESCO for Sound Week with pianist Jean-Philippe Collard-Neven, and finally twice on the show Symphonie pour la Vie broadcast on France 3.
In 2021, Les Itinérantes recorded their second album « Voyages d’Hiver » with percussionist Thierry Gomar, released under the Ambronay Éditions label. They were awarded fourth prize at the Tampereen Sävel competition (Tampere Vocal Music Festival) and are supported by La Cité de la Voix (Vézelay), where they participate in daily events in August, while continuing their collaboration with Natalie Dessay.
In 2022, Les Itinérantes began a two-year residency at the Ambronay CCR and joined the Irish vocal ensemble ANÚNA, directed by composer Michael McGlynn, with whom they perform at various international festivals (Tradfest Temple Bar in Dublin, Leipzig Choral Festival, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Mullingar, Via Aeterna…)
They recorded the EP “Existence Shade” with singer Philip Barkhudarov, as well as “Rondes autour de la terre,” a book-album released by Esperluètes editions.
Les Itinérantes perform internationally, including tours in Latvia (July 2021) and Benin (March 2022), as well as in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, and Japan.
In June 2023, they won first prize in the acoustic category of the Tampere International Competition, as well as the Grand Prix, becoming the first French acoustic group to receive this distinction. The same year, they recorded their 3rd album, “Origines,” with the Mirare Label. It was released as the official album of La Folle journée de Nantes in January 2024.
